Tan Prep & Maintenance Guidelines
GLOW TIPS.
GLOW TIPS.
Golden hour no longer has to ever end. We do everything we can to ensure you look as great on the outside as you feel on the inside with a spray tan that actually improves your skin.
There are, however, a few things that are out of our control, so be sure to follow these skin preparation and aftercare instructions to help you maintain a gorgeous glow that looks flawless from head to toe.
Preparations
-
Waxing and Shaving should be completed at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.
-
Exfoliation is vital in achieving a flawless tan!
Exfoliation should be done 24 hours before your appointment because it can leave an oily residue that will affect how your spray tan holds onto your skin.
-
Showering should be completed at least 4 hours prior to your appointment to allow your pH levels to neutralize.
If you must shower within the 4 hours, add a cold water rinse at the end of your shower.
Avoid using any cream-based body wash (especially Dove). They are known to leave a residue on the skin and can create a barrier that the tan cannot penetrate through and may leave streaks.
-
Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing with open-toe sandals.
Tight clothing will cause streaks and will affect the appearance of your tan while it’s developing.
Please note that the bronzer in the solution may transfer to your items but is water soluble and will wash out.
Bring dark colored towels to your appointment to place on the seat of your car to prevent solution transfer to your seat.
-
Forgo any lotions, oils, deodorant, perfumes, or makeup the day of your appointment. All of these can create a barrier on the skin that the tan will not adhere to.
-
Tanning should always be the last beauty treatment completed due to the barriers that spa treatment products can create.
Complete all facials, and massages the day prior.
-
Complete manicures and pedicures the day prior.
If completed day-of-tan, please forgo any oils/lotions that your nail technician might apply on you.
If completed days after tan, your tan may become uneven due to soaking, acetone, oils, lotions, etc.
Maintenance
-
Do not get wet or sweat until your initial rinse. This means no showering, working out, lotions, or liquid foundations on the skin until after you take your initial rinse.
If you have pets, do not let them lick you.
-
If you touch yourself while your tan is developing, this could result in stained palms.
-
If you do not rinse at your designated time, your tan may develop too light or too dark.
Do not use soap (you can use body wash again after your first rinse).
The water temperature should be lukewarm.
If you see streaks after getting out of the shower, hop back in and use your hand to guide the leftover bronzer off.
-
Avoid using any loofahs or wash rags during your showers. It is best to wash with hands only in areas where needed (pits and privates) to ensure a long-lasting tan.
We recommend using a gel-based body wash.
Avoid harsh scrubbing, hot water and bar soaps.
Pat yourself dry with a towel, don’t rub.
-
Avoid swimming in the pool/ocean for long periods of time, long hot showers/baths, saunas, and excessive sweating.
Your tan will not last very long if you are planning on doing any of these activities.
-
The more hydrated your skin is, the longer your tan will last.
Your moisturizer should be free of mineral oil and artificial fragrance.
You may use a tan extending lotion that contains DHA after day three.
